Joint FP1303 and FP1407 WG 2 meeting:  “LCA of wood modification processes - where are the weaknesses with inventories

The need for products to meet ever-increasingly stringent standards and environmental aspects has led to the desire to establish Life Cycle Assessments and Environmental Product Declarations for new processes and products. Within bio-based building materials, one areas of development that has attracted considerable research and commercialisation over the past 20 years has been wood modification. As these materials become more commonplace in the built environment, their credentials compared to more traditional materials needs to be assessed and reported. This joint meeting between COST Actions FP1303 and FP1407 (Woodmodlife) allowed for a group of experts to come together and discuss aspects of LCA and EPD and how these are being applied to modified wood. The meeting was held at ETH in Zurich on 3rd December, 2015.
